Kapittel 6.1Initiated: Develop knowledge and expertise about artificial intelligence among the government agencies

Background

Section 6.3 of the final report for the coordination project states the following recommendation:

  • that the government agencies continue to build expertise within the field of AI.
  • that the government agencies establish one or more permanent arenas that enable them to continue to collaborate on products and services that require cross-agency cooperation. For example, there could be a network of specialists who aim to arrange regular competence-enhancing events and low-threshold information exchange.

Status

Artificial intelligence is being developed and introduced into use at a rapid pace, which is demanding to monitor and assess the relevance to the health and care services. Appropriate priorities require an overview, a high level of competence and a strong degree of involvement and coordination. There is a need to monitor, systematise and share knowledge about AI developments in the healthcare sector, nationally, in other countries and within the EU.

What is happening within the area?

This area is viewed in the context of the seminar series (section 1.2).

Plan going forward

  • Continue to build competence among the government agencies
    • Systematic monitoring of selected reports and periodicals and attendance at conferences
    • Consider building (small) AI networks based on selected themes, such as cost-benefit/benefit realisation reviews or law
    • Consider developing an AI competence plan for the health authorities. This could for example consist of webinars and videos concerning selected themes that are being developed in the joint AI plan.
  • Share experiences and expertise
    • Publish articles and other information on the information pages
    • Make contributions and give lectures/talks at conferences and seminars

Consider developing new types of publications, such as “point of view” or brief reports.
